I’ve recently watched SBS Kpop star and I was so happy that there are more amazing singers in Korea than I have ever imagine. (and oh by the way amazing for me is someone who has a beautiful unique voice and or great vocal techniques) I know this may sound offensive but I didn’t mean it that way. Don’t get me wrong I love the Korean music industry’s uniqueness, catchy songs, seamlessly dance routines and of course the highly paid off rigid training of artists. But putting this aside let’s be realistic most of the Korean artist that I know specially idols today are kind of mediocre with regards to their singing abilities. Yes there are some who’s amazing like Hyorin, Luna, IU, Park bom, Seo in young, Davichi, lena park, brown eyed girls, 2am, Yonghwa, daesung, taeyang, CL, and Gummy (forgive me if I haven’t mention others) but let us face it mediocres out number those who are really great.
So now let’s go back to my main point. So I didn’t start to religiously follow this show until the top three contestants episodes. Yeah its baek ah yeon, lee ha yi and park ji min. Well, park ji min and lee ha yi are no doubt in my top three but I was surprised to see baek ah yeon there not like I was protesting I just thought that it will be lee michelle. But kudos to baek ah yeon if kpopstar’s criteria is the most improved I must say that baek ah yeon will be the winner. Damn I’m like a mother saying “awww she was baby girl but now she’s all grown up” when she sang run devil run (on top 4 episode). But unfortunately she was the one that was eliminated the next round. :(
Now let’s go on to the finals which is between lee ha yi and park ji min. When I think of who might win this thing without biases…I’m very clueless.
I mean.. Park Ji Min no doubt can reach high ranges while lee ha yi is kind of awkward with it I mean lee ha yi can but…she needs more practice with it just like how she reach the pitch in mercy.
PJM VS LHY
1-0
While when it comes to the uniqueness of their voice hands down to lee ha yi..
PJM VS LHY
1-1
when it comes to the style how they deliver their songs..hmm well it depends really.. if its the soulful genre..it’ll be lee ha yi, if its a song that needs the the hair raising range like you raise me up it’ll be park jimin.
PJM VS LHY
2-2
if its the challenge that they put up with their self…it’ll be lee hayi since OMG she f*ck*ng have a rap part not to mention her flow is not awkward at all..she have also danced to goodbye baby though its not really that good :P
PJM VS LHY
2-3
if its consistency..no doubt its park ji min..lee hayi in some point have some issues.
PJM VS LHY
3-3
and lastly if its the connection with the audience..hmm they are someone in a tie since.. Lee hayi has this soulful voice that makes you want to repeat again and again while park ji min has this high pitch that gives you goose bumps.
PJM VS LHY
4-4
In the end, taking away the biases either one of them are worthy of winning it. And I say Park ji min is worthy of her win.
But since I am just a human in some point I also want lee hayi to win. I think I started having a bias towards lee hayi when I saw the clips of mercy and bust your windows”. And though she did not win I think its ok since YG papa said “Lee hayi you are no.1 in my heart”.
I don’t know why but I really think he’s cute when he dances. I don’t know why they gave him such a hard time :(
